Sometimes I take my walk standing still.
Physical fitness is only a small part of why I walk every day. Consistent observation of the outdoor world is why I walk outside. When in motion, I cannot hear the quiet sounds: the identifiable call of the chickadee, the soft arching bend of a breeze-blown cedar, the hasty scamper of the lone gray squirrel.
To notice these things I must stop and stay in place.
Do you let yourself be still?
