I’m finding this to be a very odd spring. A month ago I wrote about signs that spring was coming hard and fast. Then, temperatures dropped and the progression stalled. Now, after a few days of warm sunshine, things are moving forward again.
Maybe my memory is jaded by the fact that I’m anxious to see some color, but the color seems to be arriving late. Only the daffodils in the sunniest locations are in full bloom; those in the shady spots are just beginning to open.
And frankly, I’ve forgotten what a deciduous leaf looks like.
Hope continues though, as shown here in the tiny, pre-leaf flowers of a spicebush (Lindera benzoin Blume.)
