Today I offer an alternative shopping resource (*see explanation below) for anyone in the market for an eReader. This is for you if you want to read eBooks but don’t want to buy into the Amazon-way-or-the-highway Kindle.

The Kobo Reader lets you patronize your local and independent books stores. It is owned by Rakuten, a company that says its approach is to “aid its merchants to succeed rather than compete with them.” Thank you Towne Book Center for reminding me of this resource. Admittedly, I do not own one, but when/if I buy an eReader, this will probably be the one.
