Water Logged

Fallen leaves. Labor Day celebrations. School buses. The end-of-summer signs are here. Such melancholy. This wasn’t a summer of sun; this was a summer of rain. Telling is the recent cancellation of Rodale Farm’s Organic Apple Festival. Not only has the weather washed out my mood, it ruined crop yields for farmers like those at Rodale. They will not poison nature with pesticides and synthetic fertilizers. They made a choice to take the hard road of adaptation. I too must accept and adjust to each season for whatever it brings, regardless of what I would like it to be.

A little girl, dressed for a sunny day, dances in the puddle as crowds hide and dad looks on during a street festival.
