On this day, the fall season swarms in to start refreshing the scene. Leaves drop; fruits ripens and fall from the vine; bees scramble to capture the last of the pollen; geese gather to prepare for their annual trip to warmer fields.
Some people love fall. I prefer spring. The difference is that I favor new growth to that of shedding old skin. Still, both are required to keep life vibrant, as are the harsh and relaxing seasons of winter and summer. All seasons have great value, and it is on these first days–these equinoxes and solstices–that we are drawn to recognize their offerings.
