Think it’s too soon to be gardening? If your plot is ready, now is the time to plant sugar snap peas, carrots, radishes, and lettuce. Just don’t disturb the saturated-and-thawing soil any more than you must. Herbs can go in the ground very soon, too. Summer plants should be started indoors. And for flowers, dormant rose bushes can go in as soon as the ground can be worked slightly.

Time will move quickly now. If you’re looking to create a garden that attracts beautiful visitors and need some inspiration, advice, and ideas, check out this Friday’s program.
Gardening for Birds and Butterflies, March 13, 7pm.
And if you’re not local to the Emmaus, PA area, look for a similar presentation where you live. Don’t delay. Mother’s Day may get all the attention as the end of the frost, but there’s plenty to do right now.
